How do I set up my design?
On the product page, select either "I have artwork/Create my design", or "Design it for me" from the artwork options before adding to cart.

What is the "I have artwork" option?
If you have your own SVG file ready, select "I have artwork" — you'll be taken directly to our free online Boat Name Sticker Designer where you can upload your file, preview your sticker at exact dimensions, and prepare it for production. No proof is required as what you see in the designer is exactly what will be produced.

Why does the designer only accept SVG files?
Boat name stickers are cut with a blade rather than printed, so the cutting machine needs vector path data to follow. SVG is a vector format that contains this path information. Raster files such as JPG, PNG, or JPEG cannot be used as they do not contain the data needed for cutting. If your artwork isn't in SVG format, export it from your design software or use the "Create my design" or "Design it for me" options.

Can I use Canva to create my design?
Yes — download your file from Canva as an SVG. All fonts must be converted to outlines before exporting, and any overlapping elements should form a united compound shape. Note: Canva may export some images or raster elements as JPG rather than vector paths — these elements won't be cuttable. If you're unsure, contact us before ordering.

What is the "Create my design" option?
If you don't have an SVG file, select "Create my design" — you'll be taken to our free online designer where you can build your boat name sticker using text and pre-loaded design elements. Once you're happy with your design, it goes straight to production. No proof is required as what you build in the designer is exactly what will be produced.

What is the "Design it for me" option?
If you'd prefer us to create your design, select "Design it for me" — the design service will be added to your cart. Simply describe your sticker in the brief field provided, including your boat name, any additional text, preferred colours, and layout details. If you have files to share such as a logo, email them to us after ordering with your order number in the subject line.

What does the Design it for me service include?
The design service includes a basic layout using your supplied text or logo, simple lettering or standard boat name layouts, and two design proofs for amendments and approvals. It does not include logo design or illustration, complex graphics or branding work, or multiple design concepts. More complex artwork will be custom quoted before work begins.

Do I need to supply cut lines?
No — our cutting machine reads the outline of your vector artwork directly. No separate cut line is required.

What if my uploaded file isn't suitable for cutting?
If your SVG file isn't suitable for cutting, we'll contact you directly before proceeding. If you're unable to adjust the file yourself, we can provide a custom quote to prepare a cut-ready file for you.

Are there minimum size requirements for boat name stickers?
Yes — due to the nature of the cutting process, there are minimum size and detail requirements that must be followed for a successful result.

All lines and strokes must be at least 2mm thick.

All lettering must be a minimum of 20mm in height. For all-caps bold sans-serif fonts only, a minimum of 10mm in height may be achievable — please email your file directly for a test cut and custom quote before ordering.

For lettering smaller than 20mm in complex or decorative fonts, please contact us before ordering as additional charges may apply.

Why are there minimum size requirements?
Boat name stickers are cut with a tiny blade and the unwanted background vinyl is manually removed before application tape is applied. The smaller or thinner an element is, the less adhesive there is to bond with the surface. Very thin lines can lift over time and small text may be susceptible to peeling with cleaning or salt water exposure. Minimum size requirements are in place to ensure your sticker performs as expected once applied.

My design has fine detail — will it work as a boat name sticker?
Highly detailed designs with thin lines, intricate elements, or small text may not be suitable for the cut vinyl process. If you're unsure whether your design meets the requirements, please email your file to us before ordering and we can advise whether it's suitable or suggest adjustments.

What material are boat name stickers made from?
Boat name stickers are made from high-quality outdoor vinyl in solid colours. This vinyl is waterproof, UV stable, and highly durable — the longest-lasting option we offer as there's no ink involved that can fade over time.

Are boat name stickers waterproof?
Yes — pre-coloured vinyl is fully waterproof and offers the highest water resistance of all our products. It's UV stable and designed to withstand constant exposure to saltwater, rain, sun, and marine conditions.

Will the colours fade over time?
All vinyl will fade over time with prolonged exposure to UV and the elements — however pre-coloured vinyl offers the best fade resistance of all our sticker products. Because the colour runs through the vinyl itself rather than being printed on top, it takes significantly longer to show signs of fading compared to digitally printed alternatives. For most vehicles, you can expect excellent colour retention well beyond the life of a printed sticker.

How long do they last?
Standard marine vinyl lasts up to 5–7 years outdoors, while printed and laminated vinyl lasts up to 5 years outdoors. Actual lifespan can vary depending on UV exposure, hull surface colour (dark surfaces absorb more heat), and storage conditions.

Are boat name stickers suitable for all surfaces?
They adhere best to fibreglass, gelcoat and plastic surfaces. They do not stick well to rough textured surfaces, oxidised or chalky gelcoat, silicone-treated areas, or low surface energy plastics. These stickers are not suitable for ribbed surfaces, textured trims, or any surface that curves in two directions simultaneously (such as a compound curve). This is a print and cut vinyl, not a wrapping vinyl, and will not conform to complex surface profiles. If you're unsure whether your surface is suitable, please contact us before ordering and we'll be happy to advise.

Are boat name stickers removable?
Vehicle door stickers feature permanent adhesive designed for long-lasting application. While they can be removed, depending on the surface and how long they've been applied, some adhesive residue may remain and the vinyl will not be reusable.

It's worth noting that over time, UV exposure can cause the paint around your stickers to fade, while the area beneath the sticker remains protected. This can result in a "shadowing" effect — where the outline of the sticker becomes visible once removed. To minimise this, we recommend removing stickers after 3 years, polishing the surrounding surface, and re-applying fresh stickers. This helps maintain an even finish and keeps your boat looking its best.

How do I apply boat name stickers?
Your sticker arrives with transfer paper (application tape) applied over the design, holding all letters and elements in position. Clean and dry your surface thoroughly, position the sticker with the transfer paper still attached, apply pressure to adhere it, then carefully peel away the transfer paper to reveal your design. Detailed application instructions are included with your order.

How long does it take to produce boat name stickers?
Standard production time is 48 hours from order confirmation and artwork approval.

When will my order be shipped?
We ship every Tuesday and Thursday when our local postie collects from us. Your order will be dispatched on the next available collection day after production is complete.

Can you rush my order if it's urgent?
Yes! We can produce boat name stickers faster than our standard turnaround time if you have urgent requirements. Please contact us directly to discuss your timeline and we'll do our best to accommodate your needs.

Who do you use for shipping?
We use Australia Post for all deliveries, ensuring reliable and trackable shipping across Australia.

How long will delivery take once my order ships?
Delivery times depend on your location and the Australia Post service used. Standard delivery typically takes 2–6 business days for metro areas and 3–10 business days for regional areas. You'll receive tracking information once your order is dispatched.

Do you offer express shipping?
Yes, express shipping is available and can be selected at checkout. If you need your boat name stickers urgently, contact us directly and we can also arrange expedited production to meet your deadline.

Will I be notified when my order ships?
Yes, you'll receive shipping confirmation with tracking details once your order is collected by Australia Post on our scheduled Tuesday or Thursday pickup.
